On Saturday, June 18, from 1:00 – 7:00, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Raleigh, 3313 Wade Ave., Raleigh, Circle of Friends for Jan will hold a benefit music festival to thank Jan and Theresa Johansson for all they do for our community, to celebrate Jan’s recent heart transplant, and to raise funds to help defray the family’s medical expenses. Please join us for an afternoon of great music, food and fellowship. Some of North Carolina’s finest bluegrass and traditional musicians will perform, including Jan, Tommy Edwards, Joe Newberry, Julie Elkins, Danny Gotham, Lindsey Tims and David Tate. Also, please bring your musical instruments and join in the informal jam sessions. Jam groups will be invited to come onstage to perform a song or two. The concert also is sponsored by the National Foundation for Transplants (www.transplants.org), which is partnering in the fundraising effort with the Circle of Friends. In addition, promotional support is being provided by PineCone. For more information about Jan and Theresa, and concert details, go to http://www.pinecone.org. Suggested donation for the concert is $15, with children under 12 free.
