On June 27th some of the finest musicians in Bluegrass gathered at Bond Park in Cary NC in order to raise money for Jan Johnansson to have heart surgery. Al Batten and The Bluegrass Reunion was included in that line up for this worthy benefit. What can you really say about this fine group of fellas that has not been said before? The men did a fantastic job bringing traditional Bluegrass  to Cary on a day when the heat was relentless. Al and the guys also added a bit of comedy to the show in between songs. The line up was a little different this Sunday so taken the stage was Al Batten on banjo and vocals, Johnny Ridge on fiddle, Phil Patterson on bass fiddle, Jeff Huffman on acoustic guitar, and Jimmy Cameron on mandolin and vocals. This is not the first time I have seen Al Batten and The Bluegrass Reunion and they continue to raise the standard in which bluegrass is measured against.
